Da Bird
Pharoahs Logo goes back to the traditional Clay Smith Woodpecker Logo that symbolized Mr. Horse-Power.
Also the Woodpecker Logo represented Loud and Tough for Thrush Muffler and still does.
The 1948 Original Pharoahs often had the Woodpecker symbol displayed but when Wyatt Bowman bought the club in 1979 he wanted to avoid Copyright issues. Although a loud tough Woodpecker remains a symbol, Wyatt made it different enough to be our very own.
i.e. Top Hat, Monocle, Cigarette with Flames, a Downward Slant Broken Beak, and Blue Eye....
The significance of symbols displayed on Hot Rods is also a part of the WWll pilots who painted symbols on their bomber planes and ties yet another thread to our history of "the King of the Car Guys."
The Number One King of the Car Guys Gene Winfield, a founder, and the First Vice President of the Pharoahs, also founded another Car Club, The Century Toppers. 100 mph was a necessary speed need required to become a member.
Later, with Gene's blessing, Wyatt started the Century Toppers Motorcycle Club.
Wyatt had a contest for what to name The Bird and the all time winner was Cecil who submitted "Da Bird"....
Everybody should know that "Da Bird" is the Word.
